This is done with the primary goal of ensuring that a transition plan for the work that the employee was entrusted with can be put in place. Depending on the industry, role, and designation, this notice period can range from 15 days to three months. If an employee wishes to leave his or her job before serving his or her notice period, it is preferable that he do so on good terms because his or her own brand is at stake, and the Organisation will suffer if the employee leaves abruptly without anyone taking over his or her responsibilities.
