The Best Time to Apply for a Job in Dubai is Now.

The Best Time to Apply for a Job in Dubai is Now.

Well, February has here, and part of me feels it's still 2022 (is it actually 2023?) It appears that the elderly are not saying it for show - life does seem to fly past. That being said, this is (partly) excellent news because February offers a fantastic chance for job hunters - a very specific sort, to be sure.

If you've got your sights set on a career in Dubai, you're in for a treat. Below, I'll explain why (almost) now is the perfect moment to apply for a job in the ultra-modern and enormous desert city known as The City of Gold, according to the internet.

(Speaking of Dubai and employment, see our blog entry on how to find a job in Dubai! However, make sure to finish this one.)

The months of January and February are your best bet. But why, of all months, them?

Actually, there are two reasons:

For starters, the new year marks the conclusion of the holiday season. This implies that when recruiting managers return to the workplace, they will face a massive backlog of open positions (which, of course, has accumulated during the Christmas season).

This also implies that recruitment teams will be fully operational by mid-January. After all, after the year-end "breaktime" is finished, hiring efforts always undergo a strong recharge.

Employment in Dubai is relatively transitory.

Second, Dubai has a... should we say, "fleeting" workforce. That is, most workers do not stay in Dubai for an extended period of time and so find themselves on a one-way ticket back to their home countries. This implies that after Fresh Year's, the summer vacations, or whatever holiday time it is, new job openings appear everywhere, with employers trying to fill them.

(Wondering how to keep your staff loyal? You can't go wrong with this.)

Bonuses are handed out at the end of the fiscal year.

Employees are also awarded with yearly bonuses. This increased financial cushion allows them to pack their belongings and relocate to pursue a better career. And, as I already stated, it is peak recruiting season. People are filling positions. People, however, do not only occupy jobs; they also leave them. And what about their previous jobs? Those instantly become open positions.

Tip, tip.

Oh, and speaking of financial cushions (not that they're often used as such), recruiting budgets are also authorised in January and February. This is significant for one reason: recruiting managers are aggressively scouring the business world for new talent during this time period.

Consider it a race, with the hiring budget serving as the racing flag to indicate that the race has begun (which it has, like... a month ago...). Then you'd better get that job immediately, don't you?)

Dubai enjoys wonderful weather all year!

No. Only in January and February (and March) does Dubai have pleasant weather. And perhaps April. Any other time of year is "wonderful" only if you're indoors and every nook and cranny is enveloped by the delicious and remarkable cooling capabilities of an air conditioner.)

Anyways. You may go throughout the city and do as many in-person interviews as you like in January and February without worrying about sweating. Unfortunately, the luxury is not available in other months. So I'd recommend that you go on a plane and enjoy the climatic independence.

While you still have the opportunity.

… Isn't it true that I like hurrying you?

(Would you want to avoid the weather completely and work from home instead? I've got your back. Check out this blog article to discover whether your career is one of Jobcurator's top 15 work-from-home options!)

What about the months of March, April, and May?

While January and February will always be high recruiting months, there will be plenty of possibilities in the months following them, which are also the last decent months to locate people before summer (before the hiring cycle begins anew). This is fantastic news if you haven't already located a solid opportunity before the end of March. According to one story, recruiting teams will still be attempting to fill as many positions as possible before "the summer mass exodus begins."

Finally, avoid visiting Dubai during the summer.

During the summer, Dubai becomes a hiring ghost town. Seriously. It gets really heated. When it's hot, people don't enjoy it.

Hiring managers go long distances to avoid the brutal 40 °C temperatures (and see their families, of course). Besides, no one will bother hiring employees when it's too hot to see straight.

That being said, if you want to give your Dubai-based and opportunity-driven job search a much-needed boost before summer, you can find more job-hunting guidance right here.
