We've heard from many of our members over the last two years that conversations on JobCurators have changed and are more vibrant, with many of you sharing insights on breaking news, ideas for overcoming difficult professional challenges, inspirational stories, or connecting others in the community to incredible job opportunities.
We're making a variety of investments to continue to provide you with the best productive and enjoyable experience possible. Here are a few examples:
Added controls to help you get the most out of your feed experience
We introduced a few additional controls last year to help you find the discussions that are important to you. We're expanding on those with a number of new features to provide a more customised and relevant experience in your LinkedIn feed.
Additional ways for members to express their dissatisfaction: If you see information in your Feed that isn't relevant or interesting to you, please let us know by selecting the "I don't want to view this" option on the individual article. In fact, you may now click on the three dots at the bottom of any post to let us know that you don't want to see as much content from a certain creator/author, topic, or if you believe the specific content violates our Professional Community Standards
Using this option, you can either tell us that you aren't interested in the material or report it to our staff so that we may look into it further. Finally, we're experimenting with new ways for you to receive progress updates on each individual report that you submit. These modifications were inspired by your suggestions, and we're excited to see them implemented. We're always looking for ways to improve, so expect additional feed controls in the future! The more you use this in the future, the more we will learn about your preferences and can customise your experience.
Select if you want less political information in your feed: Several of you have expressed a desire not to see political information. To address this, we're testing a method that will allow you to decrease political information in your feed. While we are currently just testing in the United States, based on feedback, we may further enhance the functionality and spread it to new locations and languages. What will appear more frequently in your feed
We've heard that articles that inspire dialogues and interesting debates are very beneficial to your professional progress and development. Here's what we're doing to encourage more of these sorts of discussions:
Network updates that are important: Keeping up to current on your network is an important aspect of the feed, but that doesn't imply you need (or want!) to observe every single connection's activity. For example, if you don't know the other person, you might not receive much benefit from seeing a connection's comment on someone else's post about a job move. That's why we'll offer you more targeted activity from your network, as well as places where you're more likely to join the conversation.
Insights and news from individuals you want to learn from: We’re hearing more and more that individuals that you care about or want to hear from are really folks outside your network who you don’t know personally. These are thought leaders, industry experts, and artists discussing topics important to your profession or day-to-day job. That's why we're adding new options to follow individuals throughout the feed experience and ensuring you see discussions from people you've told us are important to you. Maintaining the feed's authenticity and utility
We're also taking comments on things you'd want to see less of in your feed. These are some recent updates:
Eliminating low-quality material: We've noticed a lot of postings that actively beg or encourage the community to engage with content through likes or replies - all with the sole purpose of increasing platform reach. We've heard that for some of you, this sort of information can be misleading and annoying. We will not promote this sort of content, and we urge everyone in the community to focus on providing trustworthy, reputable, and authentic information. Keeping discussions safe: We work hard to keep the conversations and material on your feed safe and productive in order to provide you with the best experience possible. This includes taking action against content and profiles that are in violation of our Professional Community Policy. We are constantly investing in teams, resources, and technology to guarantee that the material you see on your feed is relevant to your career development.
Improved poll filtering: We've received criticism that there are too many polls in the stream. We're working hard to be wiser and show you just those that are useful and relevant to you. That means fewer surveys from strangers and more from individuals in your network with whom you are more likely to interact.
We look forward to providing more information on how we're enhancing the content quality experience so that you can continue to have a secure, productive, and trustworthy experience every time you visit JobCurators. Check out this post for more advice, and stay tuned for more to come!
